Dari Abu Qatadah Al-Anshari r.a. katanya Rasulullah s.a.w. ditanya org tentang puasa hari arafah. Jawab baginda, "Semoga dapat menghapus dosa tahun yg lalu dan yg akan datang". Kemudian Nabi ditanya pula tentang puasa hari asyura. Jawab baginda, "semoga dapat menghapus dosa tahun yg lalu".
